Pilgrimage to the Southernmost Point of Africa

pelgrimstog-agulhas

Recently eight very brave souls finished their Overberg Pilgrimage of Hope from Stellenbosch to the Southernmost Tip of Africa here in Cape Agulhas. The pilgrimage is called Pelgrimstog van Hoop and the idea is to visit all the oldest churches of South Africa along the route. If you are wanting to do this pilgrimage with your own group, there is a book written by Adrienne Bester and Frederick Marais to guide you through the journey. These two men were part of the very first group that made the Pilgrimage of Hope. The route takes you through some of the most beautiful parts of the countryside like Greyton, Genadendal, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Walkerbay en Baardskeerdersbos, Elim and you will learn more about the history of the country, with the idea that on this spiritual journey you will learn about spiritual disciplines and also pray for this country.
