Suiderstrand

About Suiderstrand

This beautiful little town lies 5km from the L'Agulhas Lighthouse and is surrounded by the Agulhas National Park and home to vast diversity of mammals, reptiles, birds, insects and world-famous endemic fynbos. Suiderstrand is a must visit for any nature enthusiast, coastline hiker of casual walker, and is an avifauna paradise, also home to some of our rare coastal birds, such as the African black oystercatcher, which has, after many years of near extinction, now increased in numbers and been removed from the critical Red Data List. Suiderstrand is well known for its pristine beaches, interesting rock pools, a marine lagoon named Bloubaai, pebbly bays, a historic beach home and archaeological fish traps.
